Animal Health Technologist
The Animal Health Technologist (General Practice) provides support to veterinarians in delivering medical care to small animals. This role involves a variety of tasks, including assisting with examinations, performing diagnostic tests, and administering treatments.
Responsibilities:
- Assist veterinarians during examinations and surgical procedures.
- Collect and prepare laboratory samples such as blood, urine, and tissue.
- Perform diagnostic imaging procedures, including radiographs of the skull, thorax, abdomen and extremities & dental radiographs
- Administer medications via IV, IM, SQ and oral and treatments as prescribed by the veterinarian.
- Monitor and care for animals during and after surgery.- Maintain accurate patient records and update files with medical information.
- Educate pet owners on proper care and preventive health measures.
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment, including sterilizing instruments and equipment.
- Provide support and guidance to veterinary assistants and other support staff.
- Participate in continuing education to stay current with veterinary technology advancements.
Qualifications:
- Diploma or degree in Veterinary Technology from an accredited program.
- Certification or licensing as required by the state/province.
- Strong technical skills in veterinary procedures and patient care.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.- Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Commitment to providing compassionate and high-quality care to animals.
