Exotic Pet Services

Our Avian and Exotics Department continues to grow!  With the arrival of our exotics-dedicated kennels for our ward, continuous training for our all of our staff, and the expansion of our avian and exotics-special interest nursing team, we are excited to provide a full spectrum of care, including:

• Hospitalization – From the middle of night emergency requiring stabilization, to the extensive pain management and monitoring our post-operative or chronic patients deserve, no matter the size

• Imaging – Special species often pose special challenges for the typical imaging used in practice – x-rays.  Seeing beyond the bird air sac or through a turtle shell becomes possible at our practice with CT (Computed Tomography).  Our smallest patients can also warrant the same level of investigation as cats and dogs, with abdominal ultrasound.  MRI is also available for select cases –   the best way to look for various neurological diseases

• Endoscopy and Surgery – Minimally invasive procedures are gaining traction in all of veterinary medicine, including our exotic species.  Paramount has a comprehensive list of endoscopic equipment, with Dr. Hanak completing the University of Georgia’s Avian, Reptile, and Small Mammal Endoscopy Course to provide these services to her exotic patients.  Of course, we also provide the full range of avian and exotic surgical procedures: from tiny rodent spays, to fracture repairs, ear surgeries, or coelomic (internal) surgeries for our reptile and avian patients.  

• Dentistry -  When many of your patients have teeth that grow throughout their entire lifetime, dental assessment and comprehensive treatment can require sophisticated care.  Whether it’s a “molar burr” to decrease the height of the teeth, intraoral or extraoral extractions, or cleanings, we cover it all
